Every Friday for the past 15 weeks, we have been highlighting adoptable pets from local animal shelters and rescues and we are happy to share that several of the featured pets have since been adopted!

So, in addition to this week's adoptable pets, which you can meet on NorthJersey.com, we wanted to share some happy "tails" of animals that have found their fur-ever homes.

Featured pets that have since been adopted

The following animals, which were all recently featured on NorthJersey.com, have since been adopted.

Marvin was taken in by Save the Animals Rescue Team after they got a call about a litter of kittens on a bank of Route 80. Marvin was featured on NorthJersey.com along with his sister Lake on March 29. He is a male tabby cat who can be described as curious, quiet and gentle and he has since been adopted, according to his Petfinder profile.

Dunkin is a loveable hound who was up for adoption through FOWA Rescue in Wayne. He was featured on NorthJersey.com on Friday, April 19 and was adopted later that weekend, according to a FOWA volunteer.

Midnight was taken in by the West Milford Animal Shelter from an unfortunate cat hoarding situation. By May 3 he was doing much better and was ready to find his fur-ever family. Per his Petfinder profile, he has since been adopted.

Buster is a pit bull and mastiff mix who was also available for adoption through the West Milford Animal Shelter. He is friendly, playful and athletic and was in need of an owner that would provide him with structure and work with him on training. According to his Petfinder profile, he has since been adopted after being featured alongside Midnight on May 3.

Charlie is an American Staffordshire terrier and hound mix. He was rescued by the Pound Animal Welfare Society of Montclair Inc., or PAWS, from an inner-city shelter in 2021. He was adopted into a wonderful home where he resided until his owner unfortunately died and their family members could not keep him, leading him back to the shelter. He was featured on May 24 and, according to his Petfinder profile, has since been adopted.

Jewel is a female tabby cat who was featured alongside Charlie on May 24. PAWS did not know her origin story aside from the fact that she was found riding in a car engine. Described as friendly, affectionate, loyal, gentle, playful and an independent couch potato, Jewel has since been adopted, per her Petfinder profile.

Connor is a tiny kitten who is just under 12 weeks old. He was taken in by Meows Kitty Kat Rescue Inc. in West Orange after being rescued in Newark. He was adopted just two days after being featured on June 21, according to a volunteer from the rescue.

Featured pets that are still available for adoption

The following cats and dogs, which have all been featured on NorthJersey.com over the past several weeks, are still residing at local shelters, rescues and foster homes and are eagerly awaiting their new fur-ever families.

Mack is 7 years old. He was rescued from a high kill shelter five years ago.

Kangaroo Jack is the guy that would be friends with everyone in high school.

Clara is 3 years old. She came from a severe dog hoarding situation down south.

Ace is a bundle of fun who loves to explore.

Chili was adopted when she was about 7 months old. Unfortunately, her owner passed away and his father, who took custody of Chili, ended up having to surrender her back to the shelter.

Freddy arrived in New Jersey as a stray from Virginia in April.

Baxter is a cute and feisty guy who is blind in one eye. He is 5 years old.

Frappe is described by her foster mom as "the perfect balance of activeness and cuddles."

Max will do anything for a cookie. He is 1 and a half years old.

Hercules was living in a loving home until a tragic car accident left him without a family and he eventually found his way to the shelter.

Pawley was picked up as a stray in downtown Kentucky and nobody came to reclaim him.

Lindy is a little energizer bunny who learns very quickly when mini–Milk Bones are involved.

Hazel has been in foster care for almost a year and is the shelter's last longtime resident. Her previous owners had to part ways with her due to housing restrictions.

Scrappie and Sofie are a bonded pair who ended up in the shelter when their owner could no longer care for them. They are 10 and 13 years old.

Ash was rescued from a shelter in Texas with a heartbreaking story. She has a congenital deformity that will eventually lead to congestive heart failure and will most likely not reach the age of 5. She is currently 3 years old.

Toast is a 2-year-old male cat with a heart of gold.

Teeter and Kayce were five of more than 120 cats that were rescued from a hoarding situation in Paterson.

  • Defining characteristics: Teeter wants to be your friend so badly and will melt for a treat. Kayce is a heartbreaker who just needs a quiet place where he won't get bullied by other cats.

Matilda was born at the shelter three years ago, adopted, and then returned when her owner could no longer care for her and her sister.

Monty and Carlo were taken in from a local hoarding situation. They are brothers, but they do not necessarily need to be adopted together.

Melody was rescued with her kittens in Paterson.
