Is Select Health Utah Medicaid? ›

Select Health administers a managed Medicaid plan, Select Health Community Care, that is available to eligible members who reside in Select Health's service area. Utah's Medicaid program is designed to provide valuable medical coverage for Utah residents with limited incomes and/or resources.

To learn more about this, and to see which services require preauthorization on your plan, see your member materials or call Member Services at 800-538-5038. We are available weekdays, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. TTY users, please call 711.

UnitedHealthcare Select health plans allow members to choose a network physician or specialist but don't need a referral (open access). UnitedHealthcare Select (in-network only) members are encouraged to see their primary care physician (PCP) to coordinate their care from providers in the network.

UPMC Select Network (EPO)

The UPMC Select Network includes all UPMC providers as well as a select group of non-UPMC providers. Like the Partner Network, the Select Network is designed to encourage you to seek care from UPMC providers.

A deductible is the amount you pay for coverage services before your health plan kicks in. After you meet your deductible, you pay a percentage of health care expenses known as coinsurance. It's like when friends in a carpool cover a portion of the gas, and you, the driver, also pay a portion.

Is Select Health a PPO or HMO? ›

We are a 5-STAR plan

Medicare.gov rates insurance providers based on their customer service and the access to needed care they provide. Select Health Medicare HMO plans received 5 out of 5 stars for contract year 2024.

HMO plans typically have lower monthly premiums. You can also expect to pay less out of pocket. PPOs tend to have higher monthly premiums in exchange for the flexibility to use providers both in and out of network without a referral. Out-of-pocket medical costs can also run higher with a PPO plan.

In 2006, IHC Health Plans became Select Health. Today, Select Health boasts more than 1 million members across Utah, Idaho and Nevada, with members joining in Colorado this fall.
